It says: she could see in the open square before her house the top of trees that were all aquiver with thte new spring life. is that located at a large cotton planation or a town or city....
Wat is a large cotton plantation?
It%26#039;s a large farm with acres of cotton growing. You see a lot of them in the south. Without cotton you probably wouldn%26#039;t have many of the clothes you wear.

Is it safe to make a perch from a tree branch for my budgie so he has a natural wood perch?
I want to give him a variety of perches. He has shop bought wood ones and a cotton rope perch already. I thought a natural wood one would be a good addition. Is wood from any tree safe to use?
Is it safe to make a perch from a tree branch for my budgie so he has a natural wood perch?
Not all tree branches can be used, some are toxic and will kill your bird, you also need to make sure that they have not been sprayed with fertilisers or pesticides.
Fruit trees are safe to use.
You can also use Sycamore and Elder branches, just clean the branches first in case they have been pooed on by wild birds.
Dowel perches from the pet shop are uniform in shape and are not good for your birds feed, you need to offer a variety of different shaped and textured perches.
Concrete are a good choice as they help to keep nails and beak trimmed, my African Grey uses his to clean his beak after eating his fruit. Although they do need other perches, as using concrete ones permanently can irritate their feet.
I also have a mineral perch that he can stand on but also eat.
The cotton rope ones are also good as they are texture and not smooth.
The plastic tube ones need to be avoided as they can harbour bugs inside, and are not healthy for the feet.
Just provide a few different types of perch and your bird should have healthy feet.
Reply:Sure you can keep wooden perches made by yourself or brought from outside. This gives a natural look and budgies will often rub their beak in the rough surface of the wooden perch. I who am in India made perches from neem tree branches.
Reply:Of course! Why wouldn%26#039;t it be? Just make sure it%26#039;s an appropriate size for his feet (not too wide or too slim), securely attached to the cage, and is free of any parasites or mold. He should be fine!
Reply:yes it would be very nice. in fact, it is good to have several of different types of wood so that their feet dont get some kind of infection or callace. Here is a list of bird-safe plants and types of wood.

Reply:I%26#039;ve heard that parasites are embedded in tree branches. At some point I read that you could take the natural branches and bake them in your oven to kill the parasites. Then they will be perfectly safe and a nice addition to you habitat.
Reply:Yes that is better than any perch, ecalyptus is great and acts as a pest deterrant as well.
Reply:Make sure the branch comes from a tree that is safe for birds, examine the brach carefully ,it should be a healthy branch ,well rounded %26amp; of suitable thickness, without any protrusions or thorny outgrowths that could cauce injury, then proceed to fix it securely to the cage %26amp; watch your budgie have fun ,

What are the uses of tea tree oil??
I just bought some tea tree oil from the store today, because I have bad acne. But I%26#039;m not really sure how to use it? Do I use a cotton ball or mix it with anything? What else can I use it on (I.E. Hair, nails etc.)? Are there any common side effects I should know about? And are you supposed to use it on your face regularly or just when you break out??? If you can answer all of these questions withing reason, you won yourself 10 points!!!!
What are the uses of tea tree oil??
OOOOHHHH!!
I love tea tree oil!!
It has so many uses!!
Fist I%26#039;ll start with your specific questions..
I too have suffered with acne..
Tea tree oil can be a great helper in the battle against acne.
But..you also need other things to help with it too..mostly, a good cleanser..a natural cleanser is best, and a moisturizer is important too..one that is not too oily.
Side effects?? Well..most natural products won%26#039;t have harmful sideeffecs. But one thing that happens with tea tree oil, is that it if you put it on a pimple, it will dry that pimple out..so you may be a bit flaky on that area.
Try applying with a cotton ball..Mix 4-5 drops of the tea tree oil with a tablespoon of water, and use the tea tree oil as a sort of toner..Or apply it straight up on pesky looking zits.
Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic..which means You can use it on cuts and scratches..it works really well for bug bites too.Sunburns..poison ivy..wounds.ear infections..bee stings.
Toothpastes and mouthwashes containing tea tree oil are shown to be effective for a number of oral problems. Some of these include halitosis (bad breath), gum disease, and canker sores
Also and anti fungal..it works very well in shampoo to cure dandruff. It leaves your scalp with a very clean fresh feeling!
Man..I even use it to clean the house!!
I dunked the stove element with all this grime and baked on food into a few drops of the oil in hot water, and it came out sparkling!! It%26#039;s great if you dilute it in a spray bottle to clean the countertops (remember..it%26#039;s antibacterial!!And antiseptic..) Pour some in a bucket of water to mop the floors too!!!
Tea tree oil will become you new best pal!!!
Cheers!
May this be just the beginning of your use of natural remedies!!

Reply:Tea tree oil has SOOOO many uses, just google it for more info.
Some uses:
Tea tree oil has been used as an antiseptic for burns, cuts and insect bites. It has also been used for acne, eczema and fungal infections of the skin (e.g., athlete%26#039;s foot).
Application:
The proper way to apply tea tree oil on your pimples is to wet with water on a hand wash cloth (not a towel.) and put about as much as your thumb on each pimple then fall asleep over night. Wake up rinse off your face with water that day putting nothing on it and when night comes do that again and it will make a whole difference!
The only side effects would be a skin reaction, like a rash or allergic reaction. Of course stop using it if this happens.

Reply:Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic. It%26#039;s really good at releaving inflammation. You can add it to lotion/liquid soap/shampoo--shampoo if you have dandruff, lotion or soap if you have a mild skin condition. Personally, I%26#039;ve been experimenting with using tea tree oil for treatment of my acne (past month). I put a really thin layer of it (undiluted) on regions of my face where I tend to break out once a day. It doesn%26#039;t seem to get rid of the pimples that are there but lessens the inflammation so they aren%26#039;t as red and puffy. Also, picking is bad to do but I do it sometimes....after doing so I put some tea tree oil on the popped zit and it helps prevent infection. When I wake up the popped zit is flat but then I%26#039;m left with a pink skin discoloration. I have a lot of experience with dealing with acne (had it since 16 now I%26#039;m 28). I%26#039;ve tried natural products, diets, drug store products, dermatologists. What seems to keep my acne in check (less breakouts) is healthy eating (sugar aggravates inflammation), sleep, keep stuff off your face like hair or irritating makeup and releaving stress levels (like don%26#039;t interact with people who tend to stress you out). If you have any questions about any product (guarenteed I%26#039;ve probably tried it), feel free to drop me an email. Good luck and I feel for you. PS a real man will love you and find you attractive regardless if you have acne. i mention this because i%26#039;ve been self concious about my acne.
Reply:use it diluted at first with equal parts water, then increase the strength over the next few days to see how well your skin reacts (sometimes it can dry out skin too much)
use a cotton ball and just wipe if over spots
i%26#039;ve heard it%26#039;s also good for hair, but i%26#039;d probably just recommend getting a shampoo with it already in
use it every night before bed
Reply:you can use it as shampoo on plants or basketballs
Reply:its usually used to remove blemishes or red spots on your face. if you picked ur acne or soemthing then u can use it to renew ur skin and repair the damage.

I%26#039;ve never experienced any side effects, but I suggest trying it on a small spot first and making sure nothing bad happens.
I used it every night after my shower and my breakouts were virtually non-existent.
Reply:You should be able to dab it on problem areas as they appear. You will notice a cooling sensation but there aren%26#039;t really other side effects. Tea Tree is a great antiseptic for cuts and scrapes as well. You can also add a few drops to a bath or unscented lotion or shower gel if you notice a reaction to straight tea tree oil. Any ideas on what tod with a huge maple tree with a half hollow trunk?
We have a huge maple tree in our front yard that has a trunk that is half hollow. We%26#039;ve just moved here and to tell the truth neither of us noticed the tree when looking at the house. We were more concerned with the house and the tree shows no signs of problems. It%26#039;s trunk is hollow on one s ide (looks like a problem years ago) and we are worried that it will fall over.
My fiance%26#039;s mother has an old cotton wood that had similar problem and she filled it with concrete. It%26#039;s been that way for years and no problems as of yet. Anyone ever heard of that? Is that a GOOD idea? It has worked for her, but I worry that when time comes to cut it down, it will hamper the process. I shutter to think about the sparks from the chainsaw !!!!!
Any ideas or answers as to what to do?
Thank you!
Any ideas on what tod with a huge maple tree with a half hollow trunk?
You can pursue the disclosure idea but I would leave the tree alone. The tree and the damage have survived many storms. Do not use concrete or any kind of sealer, it will antagonize the damage. Getting someone to look at it would be a good idea. They will probably recommend remedial pruning to stabilize the tree. RScott
Reply:call a tree specialist to look at it
then look at ur purchase agreement see if the prior owners disclosed it in the doc. if not u cn go after them 4 non-disclosure
Reply:just keep an eye on it! i would fill it with some dirt and plant some flowers in it!
if your really scared then cut it down or cut a slice in it as if you were to cut it down to counter the weight!
not sure how safe that is tho!
just an idea!
I wouldn%26#039;t put cement it it will kill the tree if it is root bound!
plus like what you said sparkle! and new chainsaw!
Reply:I%26#039;ve seen some really old trees with concrete helping to stabilize hollow trunks, I think if you remember the concrete is in there you won%26#039;t have a lot of trouble removing it once the tree dies. I don%26#039;t think stabilizing it will kill it, the ones I have seen have lived a long time. You could check with a nursery with a good reputation and see what they would suggest, I suppose anything that provides stability is a good idea like maybe a steel strut like those used for basement supports, digging a post hole inside the tree would work, but I think people use concrete cause its easiest and forms to the inside of the trunk. There are some sands that stiffen when dampened that are more porous and lighter weight. Maybe those would work well. And maybe tree preservationists have some tricks up their sleeves. Or cut it down and get some money from your sellers who may not have noticed the hollow in the tree themselves.
Reply:That tree potentially poses a risk. First off....don%26#039;t use concrete in the tree, if the tree is bad enough off than it%26#039;s safer to take it down. My recommendation is to find a certified arborist who knows how to perform risk assessments on trees.

Ive just bought superdrug Tea Tree oil because I heard it was good for acne. The bottle is tiny. It says I have to dilute it in almond or carrier oil. I was just wondering whethr there was any other domestic products to dilute it with? Also how do I apply the oil to my face? Cotton wool? Fingers?

Reply:you can add a couple of drops to your face wash or moisturiser and that should help
Reply:Dilute it with whatever facial wash you normally use. You might have been better off picking up an acne product that already contained tea tree oil. Put the oil you have a drop or two on whatever you wash your face with along with your usual cleanser and wash your face as you normally would.
Reply:What you can do it add a few drops to the water in the sink you use to wash your face. Swirl it around a bit and then wash as normal with your usual products.
Reply:Tea Tree oil alone will not help your acne.
First know the following about acne:
What causes acne?
In brief:
1. Hormones
2. P Acnes Bacteria
3. Excess Sebum (oil) production
4. Hyperkeratinization (build up of dead skin)
So you have to address those issues with your skin care.
1. Kill Bacteria
2. Control Oil production
3. Control Inflammation
4. Exfoliate dead skin cells
Tea tree does help with bacteria, but the molecule in over the counter tea tree oil is too large to help. It need to be in a formulation that will penetrate the skin. The last thing you want ot do is to put a carrier oil on your skin.

Tea tree oil burned two small patches on my face. How can I remove them? How long should it take?
I didn%26#039;t dilute Tea Tree Oil enough when I put it on my face to get rid of a blemish and a pimple. I let it sit on my pimple with a cotton and a band aid.

Tea tree oil for acne?
I just bought tea tree oil and id like to know how should i use it. Should i use it diluted and just dab a on my face little with a cotton ball? Should i use also a moisturizer? And most of all does it really work?
Tea tree oil for acne?
Tea Tree oil is one of the few essential oils that you can apply %26quot;as is%26quot; to the skin, without having to dilute it.
Just put some drops of Tea Tree oil on a cotton ball and apply to the affected areas.
It has been my experience that Tea Tree oil does NOT dry out the skin at all...in fact, it seemed to hydrate my skin the times I%26#039;ve used it. I don%26#039;t believe you need a facial moisturizer, unless you have excessively dry skin in general.
And YES, Tea Tree oil does help with acne. Pure Tea Tree oil has natural anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral qualities. Just keep in mind that you should use 100% pure Tea Tree oil, with no fillers or chemicals of any kind added. Just check the ingredient label to be sure you%26#039;re getting the pure stuff. The ingredient label should say %26quot;100% pure Tea Tree oil%26quot; AND it should have %26quot;Melaleuca alternifolia%26quot; (the real name of Tea Tree oil) listed somewhere on the bottle.
Good luck! :-)
Reply:Tea tree oil is wonderful for acne, cuts, open sores, burns, to use in a vaporizer and many other things. You should probably wet a wash cloth and then put a couple drops on and wash your face. If you use a face wash you could add it to that. Yes you need to moisturize no matter what. Why not consider getting a whole line of products that contain tea tree oil just made for your face and body. Do a search for tea tree oil or for melaleuca and read more about it.

Do you have to get a Christmas tree?
Seeing as how it is the season, me and my friend Lou figured we should get a tree. Ya know, make the place a little festive. So we go into town to one of those lots. 40 bucks for a tree? Looked more like a bush. 3 cases of beer is a better deal. So anyway, we hop back in the truck and go looking for a tree. S***. They%26#039;re all over the place. Free too. What sucker spends 40 buck for a dead tree? Guy I know, Jimmy, got a whole bunch behind his barn. So we figure, WTF, take one. I don%26#039;t cotton much to Jimmy anyway. Problem is Lou has already worked his way through half a case of beer before we get there. Now, why Lou had to pick the biggest dang tree there, I don%26#039;t know. That sucker had to be 200 feet tall. Crushed the whole barn when it fell. Jimmy comes running out all p***** off about the barn and s***. Ole Ernie (that%26#039;s my dog) got all het up and started humpimg Jimmys leg. Then Lou threw up in my truck.
Man, I just don%26#039;t know about this Christmas spirit stuff.

Tea tree and apple cider vineger?
I have been usin both of them serperatley on my face for a while but when i put a cotton ball soaked in apcv and a drop or 2 or tea tree on my pimple then put a bandaid over it my skin kinda started pulsing and when i took it off my pimple and the area around it was red ( which it wasnt before) even though the pimple diminshed in size the redness hazent gone away wat cani do to get rid of it and why did that happen?
Tea tree and apple cider vineger?
You put vinegar on it, then put on band-aid on it. You didnt let the area breath, you trapped all the bacteria under a band-aid and it probably irritated the area, especially since you had to peel the band-aid off, it probably really irritated you%26#039;re skin even more. Just wash you%26#039;re face and try to find some stuff to use on sensitive skin.

Is there a better way I should be applying tea tree oil?
I apply tea tree oil to my face and body with a cotton pad every night before I put on moisturizer. For the body I use one pad with three drops, and for my face I use a pad with one drop. I do not dillute the oil with water at all. Is there a better way to apply the oil? Should I add it to my cleanser instead? I haven%26#039;t had any adverse reactions and I%26#039;ve been using it for a few weeks, should I just continue how I am?
Is there a better way I should be applying tea tree oil?
You do not need to apply the oil every night. Wash, dry and moisturize your face then take a Q tip or cotton pad and apply 1-2 drops to any problem ares on your face (acne etc). Don%26#039;t add it to your cleanser because remember; its oil so it%26#039;ll make your face texture all messed up.

Can tea tree oil cause scarring if used plain on your face?
I bought some tea tree oil, and applied it to my face with a cotton ball, and it burns a lil, but then again i have a high tolerance for pain so it doesnt bother me. So my question is, can using it plain cause scarring and is it bad to use plain?
Can tea tree oil cause scarring if used plain on your face?
What are you trying to acheive?
Reply:not at all darling. tea tree oil is a very strong oil, esp the undiluted stuff. it treats many things even jock itch and foot fungus. oh, and did i mention if you apply it to your scalp in the shower and leave it in for about a minute it even cures dandruff??
tough stuff that tea tree oil
Reply:No it won%26#039;t cause scaring but you should not apply it straight to the face. Dilute it as your face is pretty sensitive. It also should not sting your face when you apply it. Wouldn%26#039;t it have been easier to just buy a facial product that contains tea tree oil instead of trying to dilute it yourself?
Reply:You shouldn%26#039;t use 100% tea tree oil all over your face. You could burn the skin. Were you trying to use it as an astringent?? Tree tree oil should be used as a spot treatment on acne or on scrapes, cuts, cold sores etc.
There are tree tree oil products on the market safe for you face. The Body Shop carries a great line.
Reply:no it is just strong, it%26#039;s healing and cleaning so it%26#039;s gotta sting a little. If you are concerned you may be allergic, go to your doctor.
Reply:Tea tree oil shouldn%26#039;t be used on open cuts or sores. It will sting a lot. But it won%26#039;t cause scaring. Also keep it away from your eyes. Again it will sting a lot. For open cuts use a triple antibiotic cream with tea tree oil in it. Melaluca has many products with tea tree oil in them.
Reply:No it won%26#039;t scar - it is a good bacteria cleaner. If your skin is sensitive do not use it daily - or if you do use it daily use it only on blemishes.
Reply:It will not cause scarring, but Tea Tree Oil is VERY STRONG, therefore you would want to delute it in a 2:1 ratio with water.
Reply:no scarring, tea tree oil simply works as natural antiseptic. i%26#039;ve tried it on acne a couple of times since i used to be covered by pimples all over my face when i was a teenager. Didn%26#039;t really work out for me, but still it didn%26#039;t really leave any scars. Besides, many cosmetic products such as acne treaments, astringents are alot more abrasive compared to it.

Best shade tree for texan's back yard?
Hi, I%26#039;m trying to get some idea of a good, moderately fast growing tree to plant in my back yard. I have very clay sticky soil with nice plush grass on top. My back yard slightly slopes down to the east and is moderatly large size yard. I would like a tree that gives shade, will tolerate drought conditions and does not have those pesky flowers that bloom and spred pollin. I%26#039;d like to purchase it kinda small and let it grow over time, I%26#039;m not looking to plant a $500 fully grown oak tree.
I%26#039;d just like to hear any suggestions on trees I can research for my area. I was concidering a cotton wood, but my neighbor is allergic and I%26#039;d hate for my pretty tree to cause her any discomfort. No, I don%26#039;t like pine trees, or scrub brush. I don%26#039;t mind raking leaves. I am interested in the (hope this is right) buford pear tree (not a fruiting tree). I love those trees, but they seem to grow slow. Any advise, tree names or anything helpful is appriciated.
Best shade tree for texan%26#039;s back yard?
It really depends on what part of Texas you live in. The soil and climate conditions vary so much. I would suggest you contact you county agricultural agent for answers. They have that kind of information and it is specific for your area.
Stay away from Chinese tallow trees. They are very invasive and have an extremely short life. They were on our lot in Houston and they very messy.
My personal favorite is the live oak. They grow faster than more folks realize. They are basically pest free and provide shade all year. Other oaks are also very nice.
Buford pears are not really a shade tree but rather an ornamental tree.
Cotton woods are also very messy and their %26quot;cotton%26quot; gets all over everything.
In some parts of Texas you can grow maple trees. We had two in Houston and they did very well. The only draw back is their roots. They tend to grow very close to the surface of the ground.
There is a book called %26quot;Plants of the Metroplex%26quot; that is written specifically for Dallas-Fort Worth. Look for a copy. It is by Garret Howard
Reply:Pecan of course......they are native to here grow fast and will give you lots of nuts.....planted 2 3 foot trees.... 7 years ago and they are over 10 feet tall and about 6 feet wide
Autumn Purple Ash Tree ...beautiful color and tolerates clay soil and is drought resistant once it matures
any Maple tree...drought resistant once it matures
Oak Tree..beautiful colors and tolerates different soils
the best way to know what is good for your specific area is to visit a tree farm

They grow like weeds. Most god-awful messy tree, though. Loses limbs like crazy, leaves don%26#039;t decompose, but make a lot a shade. They%26#039;ll grow in concrete, too. Dump some seeds in your yard, and let %26#039;em go.
Reply:hi neighbor, we don%26#039;t have many %26#039;exotic%26#039; trees, just the local stuff but the trees i appreciate are our Live Oaks. They stay pretty all year long and have pretty little acorns. You can buy them at Home Depot (about +12%26#039;) for around $349
Reply:go to southwest nursery on sandylake rd in Dallas and look at Texas ash. or arizona ash.fast growing and needs little care. bought 3 there last year and they have doubled in size.

100% tea tree oil...bad for the face?
Is it bad to apply 100% tea tree oil directly to the face using a cotton ball? If it is, why? If not, would it help?
100% tea tree oil...bad for the face?
Yes it dries out your skin far too much the same if you rubbed metho on your face. It is good for the skin like getting rid of blemishes but you need to water it down, mix it in some water and use as a face wash or into a moisturizer. Full strength tea tree oil will do damage to your skin, and your skin is what keeps bacteria from getting into your body so take care of it. You can buy tea tree oil based products for the skin like facial scrubs buy them instead.
Reply:you%26#039;re not supposed to, it says so right on the bottle.
you didnt tell us what you are using it for, but there%26#039;s other things you could use instead..
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure, but I would think that applying anything that had %26quot;oil%26quot; on the label to your face would be a bad move. It would make ME break out, at least.
Reply:hi :) I dont think it should hurt but you are supposed to water it down a little it is great for the face tho mainly acne i use it all the time i often use facial washes with it in tho there great and there watered down the right ammount you only need 2or 3 drops in about a pint of water goodluck :) x

Xmas display, manikin in bath of cotton wool, wearing pink feather boa, is this play boy Xmas decorations.?
At the local garden centre, on one of the displays where you would normaly have an Xmas tree is a manikin in a bath of cotton wool with a pink feather boa, would this be play boy xmas, or wishful thinking. or have I missed something. what do you think?
Xmas display, manikin in bath of cotton wool, wearing pink feather boa, is this play boy Xmas decorations.?
This display is geared with the male shopper in mind. Are there alot of products sold mainly to males near the display?
Somebody wants to be creative in the Garden Center %26amp; be non-traditional. I would say something to the area manager if it was giving me a fit.
I would explain that although the display %26quot;attracts men to the goods%26quot;, the loss in sales to women, (due to the gender biased subject matter the display portrays), may be %26quot;higher%26quot; than any additional sales to men.
That having a %26quot;traditional%26quot; display caters to all family member%26#039;s that shop %26amp; insure %26quot;happy sales%26quot; to the customers.
Ask why there isn%26#039;t a man in the tub?

AM I RIGHT?? MONEY GROWS ON A PLANT NOT A TREE?
ITS MADE FROM COTTON PAPER ,,IF THATS NOT A TREE THAN MONEY GROWS ON PLANTS.... NOT IN PLANTS, DESIGNED FOR MAKING MONEY ON PRESSES
AM I RIGHT?? MONEY GROWS ON A PLANT NOT A TREE?
I think you would be correct. Money contains cotton fibers (the colored one that help prevent counterfitting) and cotton grows in small bushels or plants. Therefore, technically the COMPONENTS of money grows on a plant. However, the ink and machines do not.

Does anyone know what being a "Cotton cop winder", entails.?
I found i had a relative, who lived in Stockport circa 1850, whose job was a%26quot;Cotton cop winder%26quot;, doing a family tree is good but finding out how people lived and worked is intriguing, but this job has me stumped. plus does Stockport still have a Barlow St, of an age that it might fit into my puzzle, any info will be thankfully received. Cheers loo.

Although I don%26#039;t know the actual job of a %26quot;cotton cop winder%26quot; I believe it was a job done in the cotton mills, have a look at the links posted below you may find the two about occupations worth keeping for reference at a later date.

Reply:They would have worked in a cotton mill ensuring that the looms (machine for spinning cotton) were constantly supplied with cotton thread or yarn stored on the bobbins (cops)...a dirty noisy and dangerous job...
Reply:Cop means Bobbin. The yarn which emerges from the spinning process cannot usually be woven directly and needs some preparation. Winding is the process of transferring the yarn to larger bobbins or cones. The idea is to get a long continuous length. Weft-winding inolves winding on to smaller bobbins that will go into a shuttle. %26quot;Winder%26quot; is a common occupation in the census records.
Reply:the job is winding cotton or yarn onto a bobbin. See Alcone Engineering for a good picyure of a cops winder.
Reply:So far folks got into the job description and I%26#039;m still wondering where in the world that city is.
Reply:might be something like cotton crop winder, misspelled.
i.e. someone who winds cotton fibers onto a spool for use later in a special cotton combing machine. That would be my first guess.
Realize, as you might have seen all public records are done by people, and people make mistakes. Good luck.
Reply:For granny toad, Stockport is in or near Lancashire England.
Reply:I thought it was called a %26quot;top%26quot; a large spool onto which the thread was wound. But I come from the other side of the Pennines and that may have been for winding wool.

I need a link to send a pic of a cool tree sprout i got from florida to tell me what kind of tree it is.?
the parent tree in florida had big cotton balls hangin on it. i want to know what it is. it was about 25-30 feet high.

I assuming you have the picture already, and in digital format, right?
Go to myspace, or facebook, or even yahoo images, and upload your picture onto your page. Then, come back here and provide us a link to that picture.
The %26quot;Answers%26quot; community will look at the picture, and tell you what you%26#039;ve got. Easy enough?
Reply:Well, you can toss it on flickr or photobucket or something and put the link in your question or in an email.
But I suggest you look at photos of sycamores or kapok trees, that may be what you have.

Tea tree oil caused black patch on skin??
I recently got a scar on my neck.
And I heard that tea tree oil is great for scars so I went out and bought 100% tea tree oil.
I applied the tea tree oil to the scar and within about 6 hours I could see it start to heal rapidly.
I decided that I was going to try and get it to heal overnight.
So I added some tea tree oil on a small cotton pad and covered it with a band aid on the scar.
This morning when I woke up I took it off and now the area on my skin where the cotton pad was is BLACK!!!!!
Why is it there and how can I get rid of it!??
Would appreciate any help.

Is there a way to stop cottonwood trees from producing cotton?
well this is not cotton but the seed of the cottonwood.the only way to stop it is to cut it down.these trees can become very large and previde a lot of shade.
Is there a way to stop cottonwood trees from producing cotton?
No; the cotton is the carrier for the seed that the tree produces. Contrary to popular wisdom, people are NOT allergic to this substance (you%26#039;d have to breathe them in completely after all!); instead, people are allergic to cottonwood pollen, which is too small to be seen except in great quantities, or under a microscope.
If you are willing to replace your trees (not likely, I%26#039;m sure), then there are %26quot;cottonless%26quot; varieties of cottonwood that you can purchase and plant. Otherwise, I suspect you will simply have to accept the fact that cottonwoods make seeds with these fibers, and keep the trees you have.

or apply moisturizer than apply tea tree oil....
Please help out need it as soon as possible...Thanks Guys..!! and i dont use cotton pad to apply tea tree oil on my face ..i use my clean clean finger ..is that ok?
Tea tree oil how do i apply?
I always used the toner first, then the tea tree oi, let it dry, then the moisturizer. BTW, are you using the Body Shop line? They have a whole tea tree oil skin care line that includes tea tree oil soap or face cleanser, toner, moisturizer, spot cream or pure tea tree oil, plus a mask.
Reply:Apply Tea Tree oil last and use a pad as it can be quite strong

Can You Identify this VERY Weird Tree?
I live near Palm Springs, CA and spotted a large tree with massive spikes along the entire trunk. Not like the Honey Locust, these are big, solid SPIKES, not thorns. In the tree are growing fluffy, cotton-ball-looking things. No one seems to know what it is... and I can%26#039;t get an anwers from Google. Any ideas anyone?

Did you notice if the trunk had spiny bumps on it? I think it is a Kapok Tree. Kapoks will lose their leaves in the dry season. When this happens, large pods on the tree open and are filled with a lot of cottony puffs. Then it will regrow leaves and sprout beautiful orange flowers. It grows in sub-tropical locations like Singapore.

Tea tree oil..?
Is it best to apply natural tea tree oil on a cotton bud Before or After moisturising? (after washing face and applying toner)
personal experiences with tea tree oil and its effects on spots will be much appreciated.
Tea tree oil..?
Well, I have used tea tree oil to fight cold sores and other minor spots and insect bites. My wife told me all about it when she was leaning about homoeopathy, and tea tree oil worked for me very well and I used to apply it with a cotton bud and I still keep a bottle of it. However, I don%26#039;t think you should mix it with make up / moisturiser and that. The applied area I am told should be squeaky clean of other chemicals and dirt and stuff.
Reply:i wash my face with pure glycerin and then i apply tea tree with a cotton ball i skip the toner because it made my face oily in combination with the tea tree oil. my advice is to see wats works best for you since everyone%26#039;s skin is different
The tea tree oil is very good it moisturizes me face and it made my spots go away quicker. make sure the tea tree oil is pure or close to pure check ingredients do not get one that has petroleum or mineral oil in it it will just clog your pores. Good luck

Funny... when I read your question, the term %26quot;kapok%26quot; came to mind. It%26#039;s a fiber similar to the fuzz from cottonwood trees that was once used in life vests; I haven%26#039;t thought of that stuff in years. Funny what you remember when the right circumstances are there, no?
Reply:Well, if you%26#039;re ot and about in the woods and find some really young wild grape vines, or young tender branches, you can make a little doll. Clothe it in a dress made from the leaves of nearby plants, and give her a mane of beautiful white hair. Takes a little ingenuity to tie all that stuff with no string, but my Grandma did it lots of times. Pretty neat huh? Kids love it, esp. little girls.
Reply:Sorry, the only thing I know that it is good for is air conditioner repairmen.
Reply:You can use it to make people sneeze. Or you can use it as it was intended, to disperse seeds.

Does cotton grow on plants or trees?
My g/F seems to think that cotton grows on those trees that have thorns on the trunk. However I disagree. I think that it grows on little plants that r like 2ft. tall %26amp; not trees. anyone who knows the answer and can settle this please do so.
thanks.

Reply:If you live in Southern California or South Florida those trees are Silk Floss Trees (Chorisia). They produce pods at least as big as a fist filled with fluffy white fiber. They also have spectacular pink %26quot;orchid-like%26quot; flowers in the fall.

Cotton things that fly off trees?
It looks like it%26#039;s snowing outside because there are millions of cotton-like thingies that are flying off this tree. What%26#039;s the name of the tree and what can you do about it?
Cotton things that fly off trees?
Cottonwood trees are so named because both their male and female parts contain long fibers similar to cotton. The male %26#039;cotton%26#039; fibers have pollen granules attached to them that blow in the wind, spreading pollen as they fly. The seeds later on are attached to %26#039;cotton%26#039; fibers that blow in the wind, spreading the seeds around.
Cottonwood trees are not the only trees that produce cotton-like fibers, but they are the first that come to mind, and are the most common, growing along rivers, creeks, and some old irrigation ditches. They were planted back in the forties and fifties as fast-growing wind break trees, and are now common all over the Western U.S.
There is not a whole lot you can do about them, especially if you are near a big stand of trees or have one big one in your yard. The best you can do is make sure you have good screens on your windows and doors, keep the air filters and ducts clean in your a/c system, and maybe invest in those portable room air filters like the ionic breeze, especially if you have allergies. If it comes from one big tree and your allergies are especially bad, consider cutting down the tree and planting a less allergenic tree in its place, (such as a Chinese Evergreen Elm (Ulmus parvifolia), which grows quickly and provides nice shade at full height.). You can ask at your local garden center about trees for your climate that do not produce so much pollen or seeds that might affect your allergies.
Sight unseen, that%26#039;s the best info I can offer.
Reply:The tree is a %26quot;cottonwood%26quot; tree %26amp; the only way to be rid of the mess is to cut it down.
Reply:they are seeds and will disappear and a short bit. Sounds like a cottonwood.
Reply:It%26#039;s a cottonwood tree that%26#039;s the culprit (and you can see why it%26#039;s called that!) You can either just wait and when spring is over the cotton balls which contain the tree%26#039;s pollen will stop flying.
Or, if you own the trees you can cut them down and replace them with better trees. Cottonwoods are short lived trees that are messy and not too attractive. (My apologies to the cottonwood tree lovers out there!) They are sometimes planted because they grow quickly, but in 20-30 years they are in pretty bad shape.
Reply:sounds like cottonwood.. nothing you can do to stop it except chop it

Gigantic cottonwood tree?
i have an enormous cotton wood tree in my backyard......will people give anything for cottonwood......this thing will destroy my home if it was to fall
Gigantic cottonwood tree?
Poplars, commonly called cottonwoods because of the cotton like substance that they release in the spring, are very fast growing trees. As is typical of fast growing trees, the wood is relatively weak and brittle, thus they are prone to branches breaking off, especially during high winds. It is unlikely that they whole tree will fall down, but the odds of a very large branch crashing down and damaging your home or injuring someone during a storm is fairly high.
Unfortunately, the wood of a Poplar has little value, so it is unlikely that you will get anything for it. They can be burned for firewood, but it is very poor quality wood for that purpose. The smaller branches can be chipped for use in compost or mulch if you want.
They often use some varieties of Poplars in paper mills, so you could check if there is one nearby that might take it off your hands. Just a thought, and worth a try.
Reply:Cotton wood is not much good for anything, I do a lot of woodworking . If this tree is a threat to your home, have it removed, it is one of the sorriest trees I know of.
Reply:Bite the bullet and have it removed. Cottonwood is not good for firewood, and is really only used for packing crates and such. Since they are a dime a dozen, doubt anyone will remove it for the wood.
Reply:Put an ad in the paper.
Call someone who cuts trees.
Just ask around where you live.
If you can%26#039;t find out anything,
Put up a sign that says....
Free Firewood............
Reply:I was born and raised in SLC Utah where cottonwoods grow by the thousands in the southeast area of the valley. They are everywhere and are messy and are tolerated only because they are native. The thing is, if you live in an area that has cottonwood trees, they are a dime a dozen and pretty much no one is going to want to pay for them when they already have them for free. So, I doubt anyone is going to be willing to pay the enormous cost it would take to dig it up, move it and transplant it. I%26#039;ve never really seen whole trees fall down vs. just diseased or otherwise compromised branches, so my first suggestion would be to just have an arborist come out and give you an opinion on its health and, unless he says dig it up, just give it a good trimming.

Any proffessional tree cutters cut huge trees for just the firewood?
I have a reaching to the sky cotton wood tree in my backyard, right behind my house. I%26#039;m always worried that someday it will fall on my house, and whatever else. I can%26#039;t afford to pay to have it removed. It would make tons of firewood that would last someone a very long time!
Any proffessional tree cutters cut huge trees for just the firewood?
Unfortunately cottonwood is not a very good firewood, (burns fast, like paper) unless you live on the prairie and can%26#039;t be too picky. So to answer your question-directly; Almost no tree company will cut a single tree for free, even if it was red oak. Even if it were perfect limb-free mahogany 99.99% of the sawmills in america will not touch wood from anywhere near a house.
Reply:Unless you find a friend or neighbor that has some experience cutting trees down and that wants free firewood, you are probably going to have to pay a professional to do it.

What are the white cotton-like things flying around in Hong Kong? What kind of tree do they come from?
It is Bombax malabaricum has cotton like husks were used a substitute of cotton. These attach withseeds and flow with air for dispersal. This plant is very common near Hong Kong.
What are the white cotton-like things flying around in Hong Kong? What kind of tree do they come from?
I dont know what you have seen, but the possibilities are:
1) it may be cotton from cotton plant
--- The cotton plant belongs to the genus Gossypium of the family Malvaceae (mallow family). It is generally a shrubby plant having broad three-lobed leaves and seeds in capsules, or bolls; each seed is surrounded with downy fiber, white or creamy in color and easily spun. The fibers flatten and twist naturally as they dry.
2)It may be some plants seed

cotton off of a cotton tree
Is it ok for my horse to eat cotton?
Probably, seeing as cotton is a plant. Just check and see if there has been pesticide sprayed on it-then definitely don%26#039;t let your horse consume it.
I also searched some lists of poisonous plants to horses, and cotton plants were not on them.

How can I get a neighbor to cut down a cottonwood tree, that is ruining my pool with cotton pollen?
I have to work constanly to keep it clean and my pool pump and filter is being damaged from the cotton pollen.
How can I get a neighbor to cut down a cottonwood tree, that is ruining my pool with cotton pollen?
Well, luckily cottonwood trees let go of their fluffballs for only about a week or two every year. Keep your pool covered, and vacuum off the cover before you take it off, so the seeds/cotton doesn%26#039;t get into the water.
Unfortunately, you can%26#039;t blame anybody for mother nature planting trees. Even if the cottonwood tree was a couple houses over, you would still get that stuff floating into your yard.
We have a golf course behind our house, and the cottonwood trees send out the cotton every year. Our grass actually gets white for about a week! We can%26#039;t do anything about it, since nobody can control what the trees do.
Reply:I%26#039;d suggest you ask him nicely if he would be willing to get the tree cut down. You may even offer to help pay for it.
If it%26#039;s a good source of shade for his home he might not be too willing to get rid of it.
If the tree was there first it%26#039;s not his fault that you put your pool where you did without considering the consequences of neighboring trees.
As far as I know, cottonwood %26quot;snow%26quot; season is realatively short. Cover your pool and wait til it%26#039;s over.
Reply:you cant because this is an act of mother nature.
you can ask for them to trim it back some.
have you talked with them ??
Reply:Is the tree branching into ur yard or is the stuff blowing off into ur pool? I was wondering cause if the tree has branches that are on ur property than it should be fine to cut those off,i would talk to the neighbour first of course just outta respect. On the other hand, maybe buying a pool cover would be wise,i do think pools are recommended to be kept covered anyways for all kinds of reasons, this may not rectify the prob completely but it would certainly cut down on it. :)

I tried taking this to the dry cleaners and even bought a Stain Remover gel from Safeway and the red-ish water stains all over my sweatshirt still won%26#039;t come off.

How do I remove a stain from rain water dropping through a redwood tree onto my 100% cotton sweatshirt?
Try dawn dish washing liquid. Put some on the spot and if you have an old toothbrush, use that to work the detergent into the fibers. Let it sit for an hour or so and wash. It should get it out. Good luck
Reply:Redwood stains are usually hard to remove, but you may be able to remove with boiled undiluted White Vinegar pour on some boiled hot vinegar onto the stained areas allow to soak for about three to four hours then wash as usual Good Luck !

Then he said,%26quot;I was comin%26#039; round the barn%26quot;
Bout the time he grabbed my arm
When I heard Momma holler son hurry up
I was close enough for my own nose
To smell fresh cobbler on the stove
When I saw daddy loadin%26#039; up the truck
Cane poles on the tailgate,
Bobbers blowin in the wind,
Since July of %26#039;55
That%26#039;s as close as I%26#039;ve been

What is the significance of the 500 year old cotton tree in Freetown, Sierra Leone?
HISTORICAL ATTRACTIONS. Freetown has an abundance of historically significant landmarks that link the legacy of West Africans with African-Americans. A truly famous landmark in the center of downtown Freetown is the %26quot;Cotton Tree%26quot; which is a treasured symbol of the city. It was originally planted by the resettled American slaves with the founding of Freetown. Also in downtown Freetown is the Con Naught Hospital which was the first hospital modeled after western medical practices in West Africa. Nearby is %26quot;King%26#039;s Gate%26quot; which was erected in stone with a statement inscribed which reads %26quot;any slave who passes through this gate is declared a free man%26quot; hence the name of Freetown was derived. Down by the Naval Wharf are slave steps carved out of stone. It was here that the Portuguese slave traders bought and sold many Africans and from which their last footsteps on African soil were made.
High up on the hills overlooking the city of Freetown is the restored Fourahbay College campus where the current Prime Minister of England Tony Blair spent his early childhood and also went to primary school. Because of the elevation from sea level, it was determined to be a strategic place to locate the campus due to the cooler climate and location of a natural spring. Another little known history fact is that during the darkest moments of World War II when England was under siege by Germany, the Queen of England was secretly hidden for %26quot;safe keeping%26quot; in Cort Right House on the campus of Fourahbay College. It was believed that the Germans would never think of finding her in Africa!

What is the significance of the 500 year old cotton tree in Freetown, Sierra Leone?
As its name would imply, Freetown was founded in the late 1700’s by freed slaves returning to Africa after the US War of Independence, many coming via England and Canada. The cotton tree was already tall when the freed slaves arrived and used the majestic tree as a meeting place to give thanks for their restored freedom. Today it’s surrounded by the city buildings of Freetown, but the tree itself still has an aura about it, as a very special place. Throughout the city and environs, wooden raised houses remain (most were destroyed in the war, but some survived like the one in photo right), built by the slaves returning to Freetown from the American South, including Creoles, who influence the flavor of the city to this day. Sierra Leone was a British Crown Colony until 1961, when it gained independence.
The horrible war began around 1991, with the original aim, apparently, to overthrow some corrupt government officials. But soon it became obvious that the looting and pillaging of the riches (diamonds, gold, etc) of Sierra Leone was big business, and mercenaries from outside the country (including neighboring Liberia) took over and continued the war, and no one really knew what it was all about anymore. Bala had rescued a chimp he named Bruno in 1987 and soon discovered so many chimps tied up in horrible conditions around Freetown that he and others established the Tacugama sanctuary, with land donated by the government, just outside the city of Freetown in 1995. Eventually, with donations from a variety of conservation agencies (photo left), Bala and his staff were able to build large forest habitats for the chimpanzees. During the height of the war, most foreign nationals had to be evacuated, as rebels entered Freetown in an operation called “no living thing!”
